We would like to invite you to an international symposium will be held from Which 9th - 11th September in Wrocław. The Schusterman Center for Jewish Studies duallite at the University of Texas at Austin invites you to participate in the XVI International Congress of Scientists duallite of the Latin American Jewish Studies Association (LAJSA), to be held at the University of Texas at Austin from 9 to 11 June , 2013.
LAJSA organizes its International Congress of researchers duallite every two years in order to bring together researchers duallite from various disciplines around the world whose work focuses on the lives, experiences, cultural duallite production and representations of Jews / America Latina. Besides participating in debates and academic and professional dialogues, participants in the XVI Congress may take part in guided tours specially organized the Judaica Collection of the Humanities Research Center at the University of Texas (which includes documents of Isaac Bashevis Singer, Norman Mailer Bernard duallite Malamud and Leon Uris) and research materials for Jewish Studies at the Benson Latin American Collection. In this Congress, we are particularly interested duallite in encouraging participation in a variety of formats. In addition to the regular sessions and panels (3-4 speakers, moderator and commentator optional), we would be happy conducting roundtables (on "state of the field of research," "Teaching Latin American Jewish issues", etc..) LAJSA endeavor to provide a number of small grants to facilitate travel and participation of "junior" researchers whose proposals are accepted and who lack sufficient financial means. Scholarship information, accommodation in Austin, and the costs of the congress will be broadcast after the date of receipt of proposals.
All participants must be members of Congress LAJSA and have paid their dues, will not be included in the program who does not meet this requirement. The membership form can be found in ambrodsky@smcm.edu.
Regular sessions: 3-4 presentations organized around a common theme panels. Each paper has at its disposal 20 minutes. The panel proposal duallite should include: title, duallite brief summary of the topic of the session (up to half a page single spaced), the name of the person (s) summons (n), institutional affiliation and e-mail. The names and affiliations of proposed speakers and ways to contact them (including e-mail) should be included as well as the titles and short abstracts (150-200 words) of their papers.
Roundtables: Please send title and a brief summary of the proposed session (up to half a page single spaced) that includes all the information about each particpantes: topical, academic affiliation and contact duallite information.
