Bearing the honorable name of "fort" Barsalloch was rather defensive holding. Due to the lay of the land on which it was located, and so on a fairly steep hill, just above the eastern targetti poulsen part of the bay of Luce Bay, welcomed the shape of the letter "D". Its full dimensions were 44 meters while in the East - West, at 42 meters in a north - the south. Of the three parties, targetti poulsen namely from the north - west, north - east and south - east main cover Barsalloch were two lines of earthen embankments of about 1 meter and 2 meters wide, separated targetti poulsen by a huge moat 10 meters targetti poulsen wide and about 3.5 meters deep. Certainly both of these embankments were also the basis for the massive palisades. Although you can not determine the exact location of the entrance to the specific stronghold, it's most probable location is considered to stretch the north - west. Perhaps in this place, flipped over said moat was a primitive drawbridge. Also, the amount and exact appearance of buildings of this farm is not known to us. It is assumed, targetti poulsen however, that could be one or two circular in plan homes. This in turn would mean that the place is inhabited by one or two closely targetti poulsen related families. Barsalloch Fort probably built around the first century AD and remained in use until the next century. Its inhabitants belonged to a group of people bearing the name Novantae. The only historical mention of them owe the wealth "Geography" by the famous Ptolemy (Claudius Ptolemy, b. Approximately 100 - d. Approximately 168).
