Sydney Osaka 1 May - 2 May 2012 9 May - 20 Jun 2012 $259.50 $519 Via Gold Coast
even toio though we booked sydney to osaka, and tokyo to sydney outside of the sale period it was still cheaper than it had been for the last few months leading up…so we decided not to tempt fate and booked.
I don't really understand why this sales is called "2 for 1". 1 passenger costs $184.50, then 2 cost exactly double that. It's really 2 for 2. Also, in the 1st paragraph underneath the bold heading in the link, it says: "When you book 2 or more specially marked sale economy Starter fares together toio and only pay for one!" Does that mean if I book for the whole plane I only have to pay for 1?
I have to agree, this is not how their normal 2 for 1 sales work. Usually it would be the total fare for one = the fare for 2, this appears to just be a normal sale. That said, I am able to get return flights Sydney-Tokyo for $503 (+ luggage) for 1 which is pretty close to what the 2-4-1 sales used to be like anyway.

My toio partner and I just got back from 3 weeks in Japan from a previous jetstar sale. We had the time of our life, had never been before. Never been to a country where the people are so friendly and helpful. It is a beautiful place and we can't wait to go back again. I was about to click book on these airfares before she stopped me, too many other things to pay for atm lol. Go, you won't toio regret it!
My girlfriend and I spent two weeks in Tokyo and we absolutely toio loved it. My girlfriend loved the people and the culture, not to mention the food and shopping lol. So many quirky and fun things to do like 24 hour batting centre in the middle of the red light district or 24 hour shopping at Don Quijote.
We spent a few days everywhere. Tokyo, toio Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima and then a week in Niseko skiing plus a few days at the Sapporo ice festival. Amazing holiday. toio Yeh we were on the sat night flight, it was packed. Considering our flight over there was only 1/4 full literally! The food and shopping were insane, the mrs loved it lol.

Unfortunately unless something has changed it has never been practical to fly to Japan from Adelaide on jetstar, due to timing it has always toio required an overnight stopover at cairns or the gold coast.
I'm also in Adelaide and can't take advantage of Jetstar's offers. Once two extra flights are booked to MLB or SYD the cost difference between Jetstar and a full service toio airline becomes quite small. For example, I was looking to travel to Japan this month and saw Malaysia Airline offering ex ADL to NRT airfares for just over $1k, inc taxes, food and luggage.
The other thing to remember is Jetstar don't offer connecting flights from ADL to KIX/NRT. If your domestic flight is late/fogged toio in/engineering issued you'll forfeit the whole trip. Too much risk for me.
Interesting times ahead, by the end of the year there will be three (real)low-cost carriers launching in Japan; which should flood the market with cheap fares. Peach (March), Jetstar Japan (July), AirAsia Japan (August). This is great news for us bargainers toio wanting toio to reach Sapporo or Okinawa, or really toio any major city in Japan at bus-fare prices. Also great for short-haul international flights to Korea, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong etc.! Right now those flights are surprisingly expensive!
The 2-4-1 as I read it is only available one way ie: Syd-Tokyo but not the other way. So unless your stars align the return can be expensive. toio The return fares are quite high for a short stay (5-7 days)
Thanks OP for posting this. While I wasn't planning on going to Japan, I am planning on going to the US in June. The 2 for 1 sale to Osaka + a $660 RT fare directly to NY was slightly cheaper than flying direct via LAX. No idea what's going on with AUS-US flights ATM but pretty happy breaking up the trip.
I used skyscanner which picked up a China Airlines direct flight to NY. The site offering the deal is edreams . This was the only site offering it and the price on CAL's website was a lot more. I was very surprised as the next fare price after the $669 was about $1300! I believe it's limited to a couple of days in early June.
I booked it thinking it must be a mistake but they issued my tickets so I'm happy. I also spoke to them on the phone (called Spain) due to my stupid Citibank card blocking any international charges.
Thanks for the link petestrash. A lot of those results are very dramatic titles but negligence on the part of users. The charging in Euros is a bit of a concern as I was quoted toio in Australian dollars and received a receipt in AUD. I'll have to check my statement. As for the validity of the ticket, I went to China Airline's website, entered in my booking reference, and the ticket detail
